Hello Friends,
This is certainly a busy time of the year for everyone from artists to accountants! Whether you consider yourself an artist or not, life requires creativity! Your challenge may be creating a new sculpture, deciding what to cook for dinner or rearranging the files at the office. We all face creative blocks. The Arts Center is here to help you bust up those blocks and get your creative flow back!
Try these cures for the common creative block:
1. Music, music, music - this is my personal favorite as long as it's coupled with...dancing! What a great way to get the blood flowing! It's good for the body and the mind.
2. Declutter - cleaning up your surroundings (like bills, laundry, paperwork, etc.) can mean freeing your mind of the pressure the clutter represents.
3. Forget about it! - Do something completely different, like talk a walk, doodle, play with your pets, make a paper hat (when's the last time you did that?), write a letter to a friend or even exercise.
4. Be Silly - Try making funny faces in the mirror or doing dance moves from the 1950s. The purpose is to make yourself laugh. Go ahead - release those endorphins and see what happens!
5. Be Inspired - Draw on the creative energy of those around you. Take a class, attend a lecture or visit a gallery. HRAC just happens to offer all of these opportunities! See the sidepanel or our online calendar for upcoming activities.
Join us on Facebook for more on creativity. It's a great place to draw inspiration from our cyber-community.
Below you'll find details about upcoming events, as well as how you could be 1 of only 30 people who own the special limited-edition print by artist Gail Hood in support of HRAC!
